Lebanese Cleric Praises Iran’s Islamic Revolution as a Voice for the Oppressed Worldwide

A senior Lebanese Sunni cleric has described Iran’s Islamic Revolution as a popular uprising of the oppressed against global arrogance, praising Tehran’s long-standing support for oppressed nations and resistance movements.

Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ahmad al-Qattan, head of the Lebanese association Qawluna wal-‘Amal, made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution. The event was hosted by the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon at the Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut and was attended by religious figures, political personalities, and diplomats.

Speaking to reporters, Sheikh al-Qattan highlighted the humanitarian and Islamic dimensions of the Islamic Revolution, saying it represents “the revolution of the oppressed and the downtrodden against tyrants and arrogant powers.”

He stressed that the Islamic Revolution has consistently stood by oppressed peoples around the world, particularly the Palestinian nation, adding that Iran’s support for al-Quds and the Palestinian cause has remained firm since the victory of the Revolution in 1979.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been present alongside the oppressed, alongside Palestine and al-Quds, and this principled stance will continue,” he said.

Sheikh al-Qattan also commended Iran’s role in promoting Islamic unity and praised its unwavering support for resistance movements across the region, especially in Palestine and Lebanon.

At the conclusion of his remarks, the Lebanese cleric expressed gratitude to the Islamic Republic for its Islamic, unifying, and principled positions, sending greetings and appreciation to the Iranian leadership and people on the anniversary of the Revolution.

The ceremony forms part of a series of events held worldwide to commemorate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, which many supporters describe as a turning point in the struggle against colonialism, occupation, and injustice.
